Something New!!

Ok, I know that Coming Of Age hasn't even hit the presses yet, but because writing has become my new addiction, I am pleased to announce the start of the third book of a long line of poetry collections. The working title for now is "Grown Up Thoughts" and I have really yet to set a time frame on this one as I feel that its going to be alot more personal in some aspects and want to give you, my fans and loyal readers, every last ounce of me.

For now,

Mike

Its Coming, are you ready

Like I said on the official coming of age blog, the project has left my hands as it were and is being edited and the cover being designed. I cannot tell you how thrilled this makes me. I feel like a parent who is expecting their first child, to say the least.

I am working the numbers for a local special price, combining Coming Of Age and Behind Blue eyes, for a reduced rate. I will keep you posted on what I have found out, but remember this will be a local special only and not relfected on the publishers website.

Until we speak again,

Mike

Update july 2 2008

dear readers,

I know its been a long time, but since things have been going well and I have been super busy with work, I thought I would take a moment to let you all know, that I am a tiny bit ahead of schedule right now for the current project "Coming of Age." With over 50 works completed and all edited, I know that I will be able to get the rest of my self made quota of 80 poems done before the deadline. Make sure you check with the coming of age blog to see sneak previews of what you can expect from this book venture.

What a wild couple weeks

I know, I know, I should update this thing more than two times a month, but things in the world of Mike haven't been peaches and cream. Working for a livng sucks, plain and simple, especially when you work in marketing and internet media for a small company.

Anyways, responce from the people who have copies of my first book are still passing on their words of amazement, which means I have to step it up a bit to get better stuff in the next project. Speaking of the next project, I added a new sampling from the new book project over on the coming of age blog, check it out...

Times running out for me, until next time...

About my projects

A friend emailed me this question, and I figured that it was worthy of a blog entry. My Friend asks "Where do you come up with your project titles?" Well, honestly, the From Behing Blue Eyes, was partly due to my nana's love for my blue berry blue eyes and her constant commenting on them, also out of respect for one of my favorite singers, Frank Sinatra.

However, my second projects title "Coming Of Age" was more of a feeling, looking at the works I was creating, I could see that I was really maturing over time, thus Coming Of Age was born... Oh yeah, that and being a 80's hair metal fiend, Coming Of Age is also an amazing song that seems to fit me as a battle cry.

Cheers,

Mike

Whats going on with Michael this week...

Well this week is shaping up to be a rather busy week, with less than a half dozen copies still remaining in stock locally, the demand for "From Behind Blue Eyes" has totally astonished me. Along with the sales from the current release, I am starting to get contacted to be put on the advance copy list for "Coming Of Age."

Also within the next week, I am please to be honored as the special guest at my writing groups spring potluck poetry night... Thanks to Marie and Roxanna for putting togeather a great event and allowing me to be a part of it. If you would like to know more about The Writers Closet, please leave me a comment with your name and email address and I will have you added to their mailing list.

Blessings,

Mike

Adding New Blogs and other useful info

Last night I came up with the idea that I should attempt to run three blogs, one with the general information (this one) along with one for each of my books/projects. This should allow for less cluttered blogs along with a much more focused attention for all of the blogs.

I am also happy to say that my first book "from behind blue eyes" has reached over 20 copies locally which is a huge milestone for me. I just placed my second order for more copies of the book in hopes that some local bookstores will pick it up and I can generate some more interest in local artists and poetry.

So check out the new blog listings to the left and remember to keep checking back with my blog network for the latest updates on all my projects.

A review of "From Behind Blue Eyes"

I thought I would share this review of my book "From Behind Blue Eyes"

Authentic and insightful

Michael Trumble's collection "From Behind Blue Eyes" gives the reader a view into the mind of a twenty-something New England man interpreting the world through his unique perspective. Unlike bourgeois poetry attempting to pass as authentically rural, Trumble's work is an authentic portrayal of the thoughts and emotions experienced by the everyman who, in reality, is much more. Tackling everything from alcoholism, to religion, to politics, to Maine weather, Trumble articulates his rich perspective on life through common vernacular without slipping into the habit of uncouthly abusing "dialect." Trumble's work is fortified with emotion and devoid of tack. "From Behind Blue Eyes" is a must read for New Englanders and other Anglophones interested in reading real proletarian poetry.

A offering from "Behind Blue Eyes"

Dark Craftsman
Dark desires of a sinful man
a loving lust for the unknown
moves his blackens soul
Carrying a heavy cross to bare
he moves unknowingly with great dispare
crying out like a banchee in the night
he pours his soul into his work.
This shell of a human ponders often
meanings of life that are soon forgotten
colors that the world will never see
ramble mindlessly threw his head
while he toils away at his craft.
Music seaps out from a half blow speaker
filled with static and crackles
never giving a clear sound to the story
being told by the singer.
The calased hands bend and shape
giving life to this once dead metals
as the man struggles with himself.
A trusted hammer feels right in his grip
the clanging metalic sound of every hit
echos loud over the mucis tone
as he beat the metal into submission.
They say that a crafts man
gives his heart to their craft
but is it not also true, if you think
that the heart of man is crafted
by the works he does.

Get To Know The Author...

Well I seem to have started things a bit backwards, but thats how I work at times. I guess you folks would like to know abit bout me... Well lets see what I can do to help you with that curiosity.

My name is Michael Trumble, I am a 28 year old self published author from the great state of Maine. Maine is a unique place, everyone of you out there know of our products but no one really ever comes here on vacation, least not from outside of the USA anyways. When I am not working on my current writing projects, which at the time of this blog post, is Coming Of Age, I enjoy the basic pleasures that living in the state of maine has to offer. From snowmobiling in the 6 months of winter, to the camping in the three weeks of summer I tend to find ways to get in touch with nature.

I tend to focus my time on writing poetry, although I do keep a notebook where I will pen the occasional short story. As you can tell by the store front ad on this blog, my first book has been titled "From Behind Blue Eyes" and is a collection of poetry based around the way I see things in the world around me. The book's body is comprised of many different emotional filled events from my life. To be quite honest, this book helped me get over the death of my grandmother, being able to have something like this to keep my mind free of the heart ache and formalities that go along with losing a loved one is a true blessing.

Although I don't think that I will get overly famous for my poetry, I have always looked up to a fellow Mainer, Longfellow, who was an amazing writer, some day I wish I could have a fraction of his success. Until then I am going to keep writing, revising and working my craft the best I know how.

For now,

Mike

First Week Of A Published Writer

Well, its been almost a week since I recieved my first shipment of my first published book "From Behind Blue Eyes." While its been a long process to get everything just so, I am amazed at how well things have taken off for me. Not only have I been able to sell a few copies here and there but I have also gotten out of my funk and started writing again.

Its not an unusualy thing for me, writing, but lately while working on the production processes and trying to figure out marketing stratigies, the urge to write new peices for my next project "Coming Of Age" seemed to slow down to a crawl. Over the last two nights however, my creative funk has been all but shattered. I would like to think that its the praise from family, the support from friends that have gotten me back on track, but its not. I was being able to actully sit down and look back on what it took to make "From Behind Blue Eyes" and how much fun I had working threw the small setbacks that come along with writing that have gotten me going again.

Check back soon, as I do plan to add peices from both projects to this blog from time to time. Also this is going to be the best way for anyone who likes my writings to keep up to date on the coming release of "Coming Of Age."

Blessings,

Mike, the closet writer
